Greensboro is a unique community. It has been called the college town you can live in forever and with six colleges and universities in the city limits and an excellent law school, Greensboro lives up to that moniker. We are a city that is committed to improving the quality of life our residents enjoy. The new Center City Park, NewBridge Bank Baseball Park, and plans for a 4.8-mile Downtown Greenway are evidence enough that we believe in our city.
Greensboro is also a community that moves forward through strategic partnerships – between industry and education, between the arts and the local governments, between foundations and non-profits and between entrepreneurs and community leaders. Action Greensboro is an example of an excellent collaboration in the city. Underwritten by eight local foundations, Action Greensboro was formed in 2001 in response to the changing nature of our economy. Action Greensboro works to keep the Center City the vibrant center of Greensboro, to strengthen public education and connections to our higher education assets, and to attract and retain young professionals.
Greensboro is a community that you can get immersed in through volunteer opportunities on nonprofit or governmental boards and commissions, through excellent arts events available in area theatres and through our colleges and universities, volunteering in the school system or even through getting acquainted with Greensboro’s history dating back to the revolutionary war.
The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce offers several ways to learn more about the community through our 6-week orientation program called Experience Greensboro and through a customized leadership development and community orientation program called Leadership Greensboro Seniors.
