Certification of M/WBEs is conducted on the local level through the City of Greensboro. It is important to do business with M/WBE’s and encourage other companies to as well because women and minorities are historically underserved and disadvantaged populations. Helping M/WBEs become successful businesses ripples through the economy to generally improve the business community and quality of life. 

Locally, A minority or woman owned enterprise (M/WBE) is a for-profit company doing business in the United States and is at least 51% owned and controlled by a minority or female. The company must also be operated on a daily basis by a minority or female in the case of a Women’s Business Enterprise.
