Entrepreneurship is a vital part of growing our economy. Without the innovation that entrepreneurs bring to the local economy, fewer jobs would be created, fewer problems would be solved, and less money would flow into the local market. It is our job to cultivate a fertile environment for entrepreneurial growth by making it easier to make the critical connections between intellectual property, start-up funding, and venture capital. It is also essential that the Greensboro Partnership and the Greensboro Chamber or Commerce point entrepreneurs to essential resources that will support the growth of their business and track them through every step of the journey.
Greensboro and the Triad have a wealth of resources designed to support entrepreneurs. The Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship has a long history of providing lower cost office space for start-up companies. Gateway University Research Park is also a resource for companies interested in a relationship with North Carolina A&T State University and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
There are many different resources for entrepreneurs to acquire funding at various stages of a company’s development. Below are some resources for funding entrepreneurial ventures in addition to traditional financial institutions.
Self-Help Credit Union
The City of Greensboro’s Targeted Loan Pool program
The Piedmont Angel Network
Inception Micro Angel Fund
The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce offers approximately 50 workshops per year about a variety of issues entrepreneurs face everyday – technology, marketing, human resources, financial management and more. Contact us about our entrepreneurial initiative at 336-387-8337.
